Forbes, one of the world’s most important financial media publications, announced its list of “The World’s Most Trusted Crypto Exchanges” in 2025, as it does every year.
Forbes ranked crypto exchanges based on criteria such as security, regulatory compliance, and trading volume by examining more than 200 cryptocurrency exchanges worldwide. However, according to Forbes’ retail crypto trading research, the most important feature that exchange customers demand is asset security.
CME Group Took First Place!
Accordingly, the most reliable exchange was the CME Group, the world’s largest derivatives exchange headquartered in Chicago.
“Although not retail-focused, CME is the world’s largest regulated Bitcoin futures exchange.”
Coinbase Ranks Second!
Forbes noted that when it comes to retail-focused exchanges, Coinbase, with a market value of $70 billion, ranks second.
Forbes noted that Coinbase is the world’s largest Bitcoin custodian, with approximately 8 million active customer accounts holding 2.4 million Bitcoins worth $245 billion at current price levels.
Coinbase also reportedly holds more than $300 billion worth of digital assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana, in Coinbase Custody.
Binance Ranks Fourth!
After Coinbase, UK-based cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp came in third place. The exchange has agreed to be acquired by Robinhood and is expected to be approved by its board of directors in the coming months.
Binance, considered the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange (the world’s largest crypto exchange by trading volume), ranked fourth in the Forbes ranking.
“Although Binance is not active in the US, it remains the largest by trading volume and is the market leader in the BRICS countries and Europe.
Binance also has 245 million registered users and a daily spot trading volume of $14 billion.”
Robinhood Ranks in the Top Five!
Forbes stated that Robinhood experienced a 780 percent increase in trading volume compared to a year ago, and that the most important contribution to this increase came from the US presidential elections held in November.
“The exchange has made it easier to bet on election outcomes through new prediction markets and offers free trading across asset classes.”
Robinhood is also leading the memecoin craze, becoming the main global marketplace for memecoins like Dogecoin.
Bitbank, Upbit, Bitget, Deribit and Gemini were next in the ranking.
