The decentralized autonomous organization (DAO ($1.96)) managing AI integration, AI16z, is set to change its name following a request from the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). This decision marks a significant shift in branding aimed at reducing confusion related to its affiliation with a16z.
The Rebranding Process
Chris Dixon, managing partner at a16z Crypto, disclosed this request in a recent episode of the Unchained podcast. He mentioned, “I don’t think we are connected with AI16z. They are in the process of rebranding.” Dixon emphasized that the name change was necessary due to some confusion arising in the industry.
“I think they are in the process of changing it. We asked them to do this as it was causing some confusion,” he added.
The announcement of AI16z rebranding to ElizaOS was made by Shaw Walters, founder of Eliza Labs, in the project’s Discord channel. Walters stated that this change represents a step towards international expansion and technological advancements. He expressed that the rebranding to ElizaOS would enhance collaboration opportunities and allow community members to vote on future changes.
Walters wrote to community members: “We are implementing a comprehensive rebranding as we continue to expand into multiple countries, develop our core technology, and foster an incredible developer community.”
